Guiding Principles for School Community

1. RESPECT

I treat others the way I want to be treated.

I respect laws, rules, and school authority.

I treat people fairly and respect their rights.

I respect private or public property.


2. RESPONSIBILITY

I take responsibility for my actions.

I choose how I respond to others.


3. APPRECIATION OF DIFFERENCES

I look for the good in others.

I respect each person’s right to be different.

I see cultural diversity as an opportunity for learning.


4.  HONESTY

I am honest with myself and others.

I act with integrity.

I avoid spreading rumors or gossip.


5. SAFETY

I engage in safe activities.

I keep my body and mind healthy.

I choose only things that are really good for me. 


6. LIFE LONG LEARNERS

I come to school prepared to learn.

I give my best in everything I do.

I am open and alert to solutions.

* Keep your hands, feet,

   and objects to self

* Sit with your feet on

   the floor

* Use quiet voices (6 in. voices)

* Say "Excuse me" before

   interrupting

* Use appropriate language

* Follow directions

* Wait quietly

* Read to yourself while

   waiting

* Complete a "Think it 

  Through" sheet neatly

  and completely

* Walk

* Sit facing forward with feet 

  on floor and hands in lap

* Wait for arrival and dismissal signal

* Sit and listen quietly unless

  participating

* Follow directions first time given

* Look, listen, and participate

* Listen for directions

* Avoid talking

HALL AND WALKWAY RULES

* Walk

* Stay between the white lines

* Allow others to pass

* Be aware of people and things 

   around you

 

* Hold the door open for  the

   person behind you

* Use quiet voices

* Look at the bulletin boards

   without touching

* Always walk forward

PLAYGROUND RULES

* Stay & play safely in your area

* Use equipment safely

* Watch out for people around you

* Be careful that balls are thrown

  below the waist (e.g. Dodgeball)

* Take turns

* Use only positive words 

  (for e.g. "Great job!")

* Play fair

* Be a good sport

* Follow rules of your area

* Use equipment appropriately

* Get help when needed

CAFETERIA & PAVILION RULES

* Keep all food to self

* Sit with feet on floor, bottom

   on bench, and facing table

* Allow anyone in your class

   to sit next to you

* Use quiet voices (6 in. voices)

* Clean up, raise hand, and

   wait to be excused

* Get all utensils, milk, etc, 

   when first going through

   the line

* Recycle

LUNCH LINE RULES

* Walk

* Keep hands, feet, and other

   objects to yourself

* Stop, look, and listen

* Speak softly

* Use polite and appropriate

   school language

* Stay in line

* Face forward while

   in line

* State your first and last

  name clearly to cafeteria

   staff

* Follow directions

  

BATHROOM RULES

* Walk

* Keep feet on floor

* Keep water in sink

* Wash hands

* Put trash in garbage cans

* Knock on stall door before

   entering

* Give people privacy

* Use quiet voices

* Always flush after using

   the toilet

* Return to room or play

   area promptly

* Use bathroom pass and 

   return it when done
